After completing a B.Ed in the mid 1980’s I then became involved with the INPP in Chester where I studied to become a Neurodevelopmental Therapist in 1992/93 ( www.inpp.org.uk) . In 1995 I added a qualification in Johansen Sound Therapy to complement my skill set.
Working in the Special education sector in both London and the North West of England I had the opportunity to work across the ranges of need from mainstream, EBD to MLD, SpLD and a wonderful three years at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool as a Ward Teacher.
In the late 1990’s I devised, wrote and produced a computer based diagnostic programme which identified the likelihood of a child developing learning problems at school. This system was purchased and trialed by the Northern Irish Government Education Authority.
In 2000 I consulted for Clifford Holroyde School (EBD) in Liverpool and introduced the INPP school based programme to the curriculum. The school was used as a ‘go to’ centre in the area for children with learning and behavioural problems. Two teachers then went on to train in Chester and develop the programme further. Today Clifford Holroyde is one of only 4 HPSS (High Performance Special School) in the country and uses the methods introduced by me as the basis for their curriculum.
I am a Governor of the school and continue to consult with them.
During my years living in the US I worked with food chemists and nutritionalists in the manufacturing of liquid food supplements for both human and animal consumption. During that time I became closely involved with the work of the Actwell Group and upon my return to the UK I am delighted to act as a consultant for the group in the ‘Wellness’ arena.
